When I applied for my new elementary media position, I had no idea what type of portfolio or materials the interview panel might want to see from me! I had applied, been called, and was interviewing in a matter of about three days, so there wasn't much time to create materials that would relate to elementary school....remember, my entire career has been at the middle-high level. What to do? Well, show off what I've done.
The only way I could think to do that in a matter of a few hours was to create a quick video that could serve as my digital portfolio. I scoured my files and located pictures from my years as a high school librarian. I made my video "more elementary" by adding light, bubbly music and a cute template. But my biggest obstacle was what to call it!
Eventually, I settled on a name that I felt summed up what type of space I wanted to create. I had envisioned a lively library, full of color and vibrant with activity. Thus, The Happy Library was born.
